Our annual burn mission to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is set to take place on February 24th to February 28th. We will be focusing on performing complicated burn surgeries for both adults and pediatrics. We are currently gearing up and organizing our volunteers. Your donation will go towards supplies and surgical instruments, portable equipment, facilities, and medications.
The scars from burns are ugly-twisted thick ropes of disfiguring tissue and skin. And yet the pain of those who bore these scars are far more ugly and disfiguring. A pain that is not only physical, but also emotional and mental. The pain from inability to work, to provide, to move, to play. The pain of social isolation and rejection. The pain of loss of self worth and self identity. A pain that is dark and lonely and suffocating.
-Thoughts from a burn patient at Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
Our hope is to help relieve some of the pain that these burn victims endure. By restoring function and mobility through surgical reconstruction, we endeavor to allow them to have a better quality of life while being productive and contributing members of society.
